Out of interest, does anyone know anything about a special offer on Macs bought on Friday, because I seem to remember reading that there was a 10% discount on all Macs bought on the day that Tiger was released? Has anyone heard about anything like this?

It seems that most people are not aware of the fact that 30 is large enough sample for almost any population, and that the main challenge is not in increasing the sample size, it's in making it truly random.
This. You want a simple random sample, a sample size greater than 30, and a population size greater than ten times your sample size.
As a statistician, it always simultaneously amuses and disappoints me when people say "xxx isn't a large enough sample size!"
Usually the sample size is completely adequate, and it's only that the sampling technique was flawed. It's extremely difficult to get an unbiased sample when doing a survey.
By the way, why is everyone saying people in the Midwest don't buy iPads? I live in the Midwest and will be getting an iPad 2 soon. Yes...probably Verizon.

I really don't think it's an iPad. Given how it appears to be a bright and sunny day and how much light can be seen reflecting off of most other surfaces, the "iPad's" surface seems too matte.

I think they also fixed Addressbook. I don't remember it looking quite like that. Had to resync my contacts. Also made me resync my bookmarks.

I guess this means no TRUE VIDEO iPOD before Christmas. That is a let down.

While I think there will be no vPod this Christmas, I don't see why the airplane integration would imply this one way or the other. Even if you had a vPod, wouldn't you prefer to be reclining comfortably, looking at a video screen on the back of the seat in front of you? Personally, that seems to be more comfortable than having to hold the vPod in my hands for 2 hours while I watched the movie.

Um, no it doesn't Fuji S1, S2, S3 RAW Files are not supported. This camera is used by more wedding photographers than any other.

alli did was put in the xp cd on the drive.. pop in another hdd.. and rebooted.. at startup press and hold the option key and your startup devices come up choose the xp cd... boot from that then install to the other hdd.. and done and done xp is installed no problem as for the drivers thats where bootcamp driver disc comes in
but mind you.. you do NOT need bootcamp to boot and install windows xp.. but will need it for drivers and such

The question should be whether the economy would have been even worse without the tax cuts. The article does not address this.

Coincidentally, I've been toying with moving to either Washington or Texas and I've finally decided that it's time. For the cost of taxes in California, I could pay my rent in Washington or Texas for the entire year. And I can't think of one thing the California state government provides that the Washington state government doesn't that I would really miss.
The weather sucks big time in Washington state, Texas is much nicer (so I hear). A great many natives of the PNW can become real excretory orifices when they find out you are from California.

Like i said above, without the RATM thing, only a few thousand people would have bought Joe's single and practically no-one would have bought RATM. Having some competition, inspired people to buy the song they liked. More people bought Joe's and RATM's music than if there would be no 'rebellious campaign'. More money in a industry makes it a lot healthier. Especially for Sony.
As I have said all along, the UK chart is a glorified popularity contest. The most popular record, at the time, wins.

The common working person who slumps on the couch, tired on saturday night, and watches the xfactor, isn't going to spend their time searching for other music available, when the music comes easy on the TV. With no other music on such a big TV show, it gives the xfactor a kind of a monopoly.
They may like it, but in their eyes (or ears), it's the only thing to like, because they simply don't have the time or the interest to search different genre's of music.
There has also been no significant reduction in music piracy as a result of this campaign - I guarantee it.
But I can guarantee more people have bought music. I certainly have.

are you jailbroken? do you have biteSMS installed? if so, thats probably why. if you go to SBSsettings > mobile substrate addons > and then turn off biteSMSsb, it will work normally. but im sure as hell not giving up my biteSMS for a facebook update that has a non functional locations feature (which even when it works i will not use) and background photo uploading. if you dont have the 5 seconds to wait for a picture to upload, maybe you shouldnt be wasting your time on facebook anyway.

For all you people saying airplay doesn't work, check the hdmi connection to your tv. I had the same problem saying something about not having a secure (different term though) connection to the tv. Solution: turn off the tv and apple tv, unplug and replug the connection, turn both on and it has worked ever since. And I may say, it works elegantly.

see this youtube video and you will be able to determine whether CPU affects the overall speed more than GPU. This guy compared 11" MBA(with 320M graphics) and 13" sandy bridge MBP with SSD(with Intel 3000HD graphics )

Of course sandy bridge MBA won't use full power sandy bridge. But you will know that MBA's performance is just overpraised by SSD, not by GPU. Once other notebooks get SSD, MBA's benefit is only limited to small form factor and weight.(maybe + high resolution)

This comparison is garbage. The reviewer took a 13" MBP 2011 with a 2.3 GHz i5, 4GB and 128GB SSD and compared it to a 11" MBA with 1.4 GHz, 2GB and 64GB SSD. I would have liked to see him put a 13" MBA with 2.1Ghz and 4GB. I don't think the differences would have been so dramatic.
There is no way a decision to purchase a SB MBA should be influenced by such a lopsided comparison.

Doubtfully. It would be more likely a Power4. the G naming scheme is getting old really fast. It never takes this long to make a processor. Apple must really have something big up their sleves.
